Study with sources

The point of the vault is to make course-specific context easy to read and inspect. Start with a question about your material:

Explain this model using my lecture notes. Cite the lines you use, and tell me if the vault is missing anything you need.

An agent with the study skill starts at the course INDEX.md, resolves sources through _meta/content_map.json, and reads the available Markdown twins.

Find material yourself

where searches local content maps across terms. open reveals a resolved course folder in your system’s file manager. DEMO 101 is a synthetic example; substitute a course selector from a2l courses.

Gather sources for an assignment

This writes GROUNDING.md beside the assignment. It lists source-backed material to read, with source and Markdown digests checked when the pack was written. An assignment can be selected by its title, Dropbox ID, or folder name. If a title is ambiguous, use the ID identified by the command.

Ask your agent to read every listed file before answering. The pack gathers sources; it contains no generated answer.

Why a source appears in a pack

The manifest and course content map must agree on its LEARN source identity. Both the archived original and its Markdown twin must still match their recorded hashes.

Your draft, untracked neighboring files, and generated reports cannot qualify simply because their names or words look relevant. Retrieval ranks eligible material by lexical overlap, so a relevant idea can still be missed when wording differs.

Follow the citation

A citation names a file and the lines to inspect. Here is the same example used on the homepage:

Open the file and read the cited lines in context. This is an illustrative path; actual citations use your vault’s paths. Hash checks establish which captured source is being cited. They do not establish that an explanation is correct.

If you need a diagram, equation layout, or other detail that the Markdown did not preserve, inspect the adjacent original file.

For graded work

Read the assignment instructions and course AI policy before asking for help. If a restriction is recorded, the coursework skill surfaces it once with its citation. An unavailable outline means the policy was not locally checked. It is never permission to proceed.

Keep help within the course’s permitted forms. Use the evidence scan only as a reason to inspect sources, not as a correctness or academic-integrity verdict.
